Design of Pressure Networks
In principle, Designing Pressure Networks is done in EPANET.
However, before you start Designing on EPANET, you may need to calculate the point demands
Nodes we. This is done by evaluating population data to determine demand flows in the network.
To calculate the current demands on the network, follow the steps below:
- Make sure you have created at least one
consumer sector
This consumer sector will calculate based on the population projection, the demand data (for
Pressure Networks) and
infiltration (for
Sewage Networks)
- During the network release, you can set the default consumption sector of the network
In the network properties, define in Consumer Sectors / Consumption Sector
- If you forgot to define the consumption sector in the network, the pipes will not be associated with it.
In this case, the association can be made after the end of the net launch. For that, select the pipes and in the Properties Tab look for
Input and Output / Consumer Sectors. Note that it is possible to associate more than
a consumption sector in the same pipe. Use this on pipes that are on sector boundaries and have mixed contribution
- After linking the
Consumer Sectors
to pressurized water pipes and/or sewer pipes, click the node
Consumer Sectors and click Calculate All
Note: This step is in case you want to view the calculated infiltration rates
before calculating the networks. If you calculate the water and Sewage Networks, the program will check whether it is necessary
recalculate the sectors before calculating the network
