There are 8 types of LID controls:

  1. Bio-Retention Cell - or bio-retention cells, are depressions that contain vegetation grown in an engineered soil mix placed above a gravel drainage bed
  2. Garden - are a type of bio-retention cell consisting only of the projected soil layer with no gravel bed below it
  3. Green Roof - another variation of a bio-retention cell that has a layer of soil over a special drainage blanket material that carries excess rain percolated from the roof
  4. Infiltration Trench - are narrow, gravel-filled ditches that intercept runoff from impermeable areas on slopes. They provide storage volume and additional time for captured runoff to infiltrate the native soil below.
  5. Permeable Pavement - are excavated areas filled with gravel and paved with porous concrete or asphalt mix
  6. Rain Barrel - are containers that collect runoff from the roof during storm events and can release or reuse rainwater during periods of drought
  7. Rooftop Disconnection - when the gutter discharges into landscaped areas and permeable lawns rather than directly into culverts.
  8. Ditch with Vegetation Coating - are channels or depressed areas with sloping sides covered with grass and other vegetation

The various types of LID controls have layers. Expand categories to edit:
