Solids Builder - SWMM Links - Outlet
Outlet are flow control devices typically used to control outputs from storage units.
When you want to define a device as a Outlet, you must add the tool
Outlet
to the Constructor:
When adding the tool
Outlet, fill in your properties, in the tool's properties frame:
In the Constructor, the following properties must be filled in:
- Identification
- Name - name of the activity
The point name must follow the naming rules
- Description - when the name of the activity is not enough to give context to the activity, use the description field
- SWMM
- Retention Device - YES, if the Weir has a gate that prevents back flow,
NO, if not
- Inlet Elevation - Elevation of the initial lower internal generatrix of the conduit
This is a property that depends on the geometry of the conduit, so it must be tied to its starting point, for example:
In the image above, StartInvertElevation is defined in the properties frame of the model:
- Outlet Type - Method of defining flow (Q) as a function of freeboard depth or head (y) through the outlet
Can be:
- FUNCTIONAL / DEPTH - Uses a power function Q = Ay^B where y is the depth of the freeboard above the inlet opening
In this case, fill in:
- Exponent - Exponent (B) used for the functional relationship between depth or head and flow rate
- Coefficient - Coefficient (A) for the functional relationship between depth or head and flow rate
- FUNCTIONAL / HEAD - Uses a power function Q = Ay^B where y is the load difference at the input
In this case, fill in:
- Exponent - Exponent (B) used for the functional relationship between depth or head and flow rate
- Coefficient - Coefficient (A) for the functional relationship between depth or head and flow rate
- TABULAR / DEPTH - Uses a tabulated curve of flow versus freeboard depth values
In this case, fill in:
- Rating Curve - rating curve containing the relationship between depth or head and flow rate
- TABULAR / HEAD - Uses a tabulated curve of flow versus load difference values
In this case, fill in:
- Rating Curve - rating curve containing the relationship between depth or head and flow rate
