Errors and Solutions with Trench Excavation

Check below the list of most common errors found in devices during excavation calculation:

• The trench solid does not appear in plan, check:
  • Is device style turned on?
  • Is the device style layer for the trench component on and unfrozen?
  • Does the device have an excavation surface?
    Without the surface it is not possible to calculate excavation
  • Does the digging surface cover the device?
  • Is the Device enabled to calculate excavation?
    If not, enable
  • Is the excavation calculation engine turned on?
    Note, turning on the engine may slow down the modifications. Use only at the end of dimensioning
• An error appears on the command line when modeling the trench
  • Is the device above the reference surface?
  • If it's a linear/longitudinal device, isn't the distance between sections too small?
    If so, the slope of curved sections may be cutting the slope of nearby sections, making modeling unfeasible.
• Negative values are appearing in the overlay
  • The device is partially unearthed.
    In this case, disable the backfill calculation
